ENGLISH : During this month, students studied more of informational text while learning about the first men on moon and universe. ( Chapters- Walking on the Moon and Looking at the Sky ) They loved sharing their previous knowledge about these topics and built on it as well. The topic of grammar –Modal Verbs was introduced with a game and further practice in ‘The Grammarite’ strengthened their concept. In writing, the topic of story writing was dealt with. It began with the basic structure of a story. The students focused on writing a different ending for a given piece of fiction. The students conducted a Food Fiesta exploring the cuisines of four countries - India, Mexico, Italy and China. It was part of the ISA project where they began with research in small teams to finally conclude with a power point presentation about the cuisines of the designated countries. The culmination activity was the presentation of their PPT and some main dishes with teachers and students as guests in this fiesta. हिंदी : रचनात्मक कार्य के रूप में अनुच्छेदलेखन में "मैं और मेरा देश "गणतंत्र दिवस" " स्वतंत्रता दिवस ", "शरद्कालीन अवकाश में आया एक यादगार दिन " आदि विषयों के द्वारा छात्रों ने यथानुसार स्व-विचारों को अभिव्यक्त करते हुए अनुच्छेदलेखन का उत्साहपूर्वक अभ्यास किया ।;काव्यपाठ-दोहे नामक काव्यपाठ गायन और मौखिक वाचन करते हुए तन्निहित जीवनोपयोगी शिक्षा को स्व-विचारों में अभिव्यक्त किया। पद्यांशावबोधन और गद्यांशावबोधन का अभ्यास कक्षा में प्रश्नोतरी कार्य करते हुए पूर्ण किया । व्याकरण - मुहावरे , श्रुतिसमभिन्नार्थकशब्द , वाक्यांश आदि व्याकरणिक पदों का पदपरिचय देते हुए वाक्यरचना कर भाषा को रूचिपूर्वक सीखा और जिसके अनुसार छात्रों ने भाषिक क्षमता को सुदृढ़ता प्राप्त की। MATHEMATICS : Students continued their learning of Decimals and started their learning of the Average concept. They understood the meaning of Average by taking the class strength and finding the Average of boys and girls in all the grades. This was later reiterated by practicing few sums and word problems related to real life. SOCIAL STUDIES : The Globe -- Students learnt the shape, various features of Earth through a model of Globe. They understood about the North & South poles, Northern & southern hemisphere, latitudes & longitudes and the Globe Grid. Further, they also discussed about Rotation and Revolution of Earth causing day and night and seasons with the help of Globe and videos. SCIENCE : Natural Disasters - Grade V students learnt about Natural Disasters, explored various safety measures planets and important facts related to the disasters. They were engaged in the learning process through a Trivia Time video played on the smart board followed by exploration i.e. Research work. The students explained the formation of a volcano, cause and effect of the earthquake, Tidal waves and Tsunami in groups as inquired by the facilitator. Later, the learning process was extended to the fact and data collection on recent disasters. They discussed various preventive measures required to be followed in order to save a life during these disasters. A quiz was conducted in the class to evaluate their learning and understanding of the concepts related to Natural Disasters. GERMAN : In sync with the monthly theme, ‘Universe’ students learnt about Solar System and names of planets in German by watching a video. They also prepared and presented a PPT on ‘Festivals celebrated in Germany’, which reflected their interest in the language. In the next topic, the students got a chance to expand their vocabulary on ‘My Universe - My School’, in which they learnt about subjects and objects related to school in German. SPANISH : The topic of the month “Los planetas” the planets was introduced with a video. Students learnt the name of planets in Spanish and related words and were able to recall them after the presentation. As a class activity students drew and coloured the solar system and named the planets in Spanish language. FRENCH: Students were introduced to the topic ‘Solar System’ in their French lessons. The topic was supported with a solar system song video which helped them learn the name of different planets in the language with correct pronunciation. This was followed up with an activity related to solar system. As an add-on, they also learnt the vocabulary of school subjects and things used in school in French. संस्कृत : छात्रों ने संख्यावाची शब्द १ -१० तक का लिंगवाचनानुसार प्रयोग करते हुए चित्रावली का वर्णन किया । जिसके माध्यम से छात्रों ने संस्कृत को सीखने के प्रति उत्साह दिखाया। लट्लकार में शब्दरूप-अकारांत , आकारांत की पुनरावृति के साथ हिंदी से संस्कृत में अनुवाद का उत्साहपूर्वक किया गया प्रयास अत्यधिक प्रशंसनीय रहा। जिसमें छात्रों ने पशु-पक्षियों के मुखौटे पहनकर संस्कृतसंभाषण किया। ROBOTICS : UNIT TOPIC: PHOTOSYNTHESIS Activity 2: Stomata ----In this session, students were explained about the process of transportation in plants. They also understood the parts needed for transportation. They also studied about stomata and how it is responsible for the transportation of CO 2 and O 2 by making a visual representation through a model. They learnt about open and close stomata and its function. DRAMA : Students learnt various forms of acting in drama classes, like mood, gesture, posture facial expressions, laughter, anger and sadness with the help of a story and their characters of ‘Jungle Book’ and also understood various characters of the ‘Jungle Book’, like Sherkhan- the lion, Mowgli- The son of jungle, Bagheera, Ballu- the bear while practicing for Annual Day ‘Jungle Book’ presentation. WESTERN MUSIC : The students practised for Annual Day harmony choir. Song: A Million Dreams Instruments: Guitar/keyboard/Drum/ shakers/Bass Guitar INDIAN MUSIC : In the month of January, the students learnt Name of the song: Sloka chanting with instruments “Sarve bhavantu sukhina , om Purnamida , Shubhamkaroti kalayanam ”. Instruments played: Combination of Harmonium, Tabla, Tanpura, Markas, Swartarang. Exercises done: Vocal warm up with sargam in different scales. DANCE : |
