Robotics UNIT TOPIC: DAREDEVIL ROLLER COASTER FUN - RUN A MARBLE Activity 1: INVERT A MARBLE In this session, students explored about energy by understanding how potential and kinetic energy of a car changes as it negotiates the roller coaster track by establishing a correlation between height of release of a roller coaster and diameter of a loop . They designed and built a roller coaster track using foam pipe to determine the height from which a marble is released so that it can loop the loop. Activity 2: BANK THE TRACK In this session, students explored parts of a roller coaster, types of loop present in the roller coaster and its working. They also studied the concept of banking the track and why it is necessary by designing and testing a roller coaster marble run track with foam pipe that has at least one horizontal loop and a hill to understand about the requirement of banking of tracks and which force helps it to work.
